I build software and I have worked in financial services. Most of what I do now sits at the intersection.

My background is programming. I have worked across the stack, from the interface people click on to the infrastructure underneath. Along the way I spent years in financial services, which is where I learned that the hardest problems in a business are almost never technical. They are process problems that technology got layered on top of.

These days I work mostly with small and mid sized businesses. The work is usually the same shape: something repetitive is eating hours, the data behind it is messy, and nobody has had time to step back and fix it. A good share of those businesses are financial services firms, where the same problems come with compliance documentation attached.

I write about AI, data, and where technology is heading on the blog. I try to be honest there about what these tools do well and where they fall short, because there is enough hype already.
